Hold On 02:41
Hold On Shiver In your parents bed Whisper Words left unsaid With all that you gave and all that he stole Youʼll never be safe so you thought youʼd let go Violence in a quiet mind reckless til the end of time With all that you gave and all that he stole Youʼll never be safe youʼll never be whole
2.
Salt 04:07
Tight lipped at the salt lakes The birds sing but the heart aches Wading in the shallows as he watched you from the shadows You canʼt be lost if you canʼt be found You can be hurt if you donʼt make a sound Fading in the corners of your eyes so you dive deep but you canʼt hide You canʼt be lost if you canʼt be found You can be hurt if you donʼt make a sound So please donʼt wait to ask me if Iʼd walk you home so please donʼt wait cause Iʼd prefer to be alone cause Iʼd prefer to be alone Salt sands from the bottom of the lakes stayed with you, now itʼs falling down your face

Of The Age 04:13
Canʼt find the words in your eyes So you sleep in the fields where we used to cry Yet a piece of you still aches with broken bones, embroidered lace But youʼre still of the age Shoulder the pain as you tiptoe the tracks Hold onto love and never look back Yet a piece of you still aches with broken bones, embroidered lace But youʼre still of the age When you held me through the nightmares I felt so heavy in your arms Then I saw you in a bad dream It made me wonder where you were Cause when you held me through the nightmares I felt so heavy in your arms When I saw you in that bad dream I still felt heavy in my heart As old as you are, youʼre still young So look alive because we all die young
4.
Accidents 03:28
Confess with the coldest feet as we drive back in the back seat And you asked me in your parents car do you ever regret who you are Capsized, at the hairpin cold hearts causing accidents As we were falling through space and time all I kept thinking was how we never read the signs Then your iris caught my eye Now I see it every time that I see mine Capsized, at the hairpin cold hearts causing accidents Weʼre in the throes of apathy we tell ourselves weʼre in too deep so scared of what weʼll never find so scared of all weʼll leave behind Capsized, at the hairpin cold hearts causing accidents
5.
Killer 03:50
Northern skies through the mist Golden fields your parted lips For all you caused us For all you missed For disappearing with a killerʼs kiss I forgive you Time forgets the casualties Silence stirs with what might have been For all we gave up For all we lost For disappearing with motherʼs cross I forgive you I forgave you

Heavy 03:01
I took my life in the palm of my hands I apologize for all that i am was it happenstance or holy war that lead me to you and away from her Heavy as a heartbreak Heavy as a broken home If you ever loved me, how come you never said so? I was never sure of course I never asked I never had the heart for living in the past If it ever comes and I hope it never does Just know that youʼre the one Iʼm watching from above Heavy as a heartbreak Heavy as a broken home If you ever loved me, how come you never said so? Take a sigh, take a breath in Keep ‘em close, keep ‘em guessing People lie learn a lesson Count your friends and your blessings Heavy as a heartbreak Heavy as a broken home If you ever loved me, how come you never said so? I still think of you when I hear your name Thereʼs a part of me that still wants to pray for plans forgot, for sins forgave maybe most of all for the price we paid
7.
Craving 02:43
Cold sweat, running down your spine Feelings hid and secrets kept Locked away inside your chest Iʼm craving for your love Well Iʼm craving Iʼm craving for your touch Iʼm craving, Iʼm craving Warm breath, rising up my spine Time stood still when it finally hit What we had, this is it Iʼm craving for your love Well Iʼm craving Iʼm craving for your touch Well Iʼm craving, Iʼm craving for you love Iʼm craving for your love Well Iʼm craving Iʼm craving for your touch Well Iʼm craving
8.
When you woke I was there I was quiet Lost in your stare It was dark I drew the blinds Let the light in Stinging our eyes You went cold.. You took me in Caught in two minds Gave me a home Taught me to be kind To say hello Or wave goodbye To always love And never lie You went cold.. I awoke You were there It was silent I was scared I was eight You were old I held your hand As you went cold As you went cold.. ‘cause I was eight And you were old I held your hand As you went cold..

Gone 02:56
Thrown in the wind with a storm in the sails I canʼt find the words, I donʼt feel like myself When youʼre gone Running from love, you learned from me The heaviest hearts sink like stones in sea Dark was the night, you left it too late The blood stained the shores with a twist of fate Now youʼre gone
10.
Calico 03:51
Still I wait for you as you asked me to Cause in the calico on the western shores When the colors changed I came up short Couldʼve sworn you called my name Safe but not for long So leave before the feelings gone Cause in the calico On the western shores I felt my age and I lost my nerve Couldʼve sworn you called my name Donʼt believe a word they say When they tell you “Everything will be ok” When itʼs not ok, wonʼt be ok And thatʼs fine by me Itʼs in the calico On the western shore When the colors changed I lost my nerve I couldʼve sworn you called my name

about

Co-produced by Woodson Black (Haux), his longtime collaborator Jamie Macneal, and Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman; credits include work on albums for St. Vincent, Sufjan Stevens, Rhye, and Vagabon), Violence in a Quiet Mind was recorded between sessions at a seaside studio in Scotland and at New York City’s renowned Reservoir Studios. The record finds Woodson processing tragedy and substance abuse across three generations of his family, and attempting to break that cycle.
